The main reason that people don’t make the changes that they know would help them is the illusion that someday it will be easier to do so. Someday, there will be more time, less obstacles, less work, more energy, or fewer distractions. Someday they will have more ability, will power, motivation, resolve, perseverance, stick to-it-ness, or less ambivalence. More often than not, finding the will to try to change is realized by letting go of this dream, not fulfilling it. Change is always hard, and usually requires a high tolerance for failure and giving up on the ideal circumstances.
